I have noticed a tiny, star shaped fungus emanating from the side of some of my fruit trees for the first time.

Maybe it is because I have just started growing mushrooms, and I'm more focused on that.

If you see one, pull it from the tree and throw it away. It will be sending out more spores to try to continue it's mischief. Many mushrooms improve the soil and help the tree. Others are mycorrhizal and help the tree roots specifically, not just the soil. They also improve the diversity of the soil.

These mushrooms were parasitic, trying to kill the tree. I'll try to take some pictures if I see them again.
