Anyone have any advice? OGW nikitas pride and bounty producing tons of nuts in the hellstrip. Squirrels have eaten most of them. There must be something I can do to slow the squirrels from eating them all? I've been eating them way way early just too be able to enjoy some of them.

What I notice in my giant turkish filbert is they down as many the nuts they can find first. If they are doing that on almonds then why not trap the nuts as they fall in nets the squirrels can't fit in?

Usual advice is to prune up plants well off the ground and surround trunks with sheet material, sometimes greased.

Ah, right, that would work. I might just do that. Thanks Larry!

In that case, keep in mind these minimum spacings:

Ground to branches or top of sheet material: 4 feet

Perimeter of fig plant to nearest higher object: 10 feet.

Otherwise they will just jump into the plant.
