Sounds like they sell fruit but not trees from this apple variety and you'd like to find a tree of your own?
Do you think it may be Colvis Spice? It's a bud sport (mutation) from Golden Delicious: You can see some pictures here: https://fogholloworchards.com/.....apple.html
Maple Valley offers a few varieties with "Spice" in their name: https://maplevalleyorchards.co.....on=product
Hi,
Like everybody else here, I've never heard of a Spice. Could you please post a picture of this mystery apple? Maybe give some more details about color, season, etc. I'd like to know what it is, too.
I did a quick search over at Pomiferous, and they have a couple dozen different varieties with Spice in the name.
Cheers,

Thanks everyone. Sorry for the long delay in response--I was waiting for Maple Valley Orchards in Greenbay, WI to get back to me. The whole issue arose because Draper Girls outside of Parkdale has been selling "Spice" apples at farmer's markets for at least 15 yrs. It is a favorite of mine. Unfortunately, they would not sell me a cutting for grafting, and they also did not know anything more about the variety or it's true name. I saw the myriad apples on pomiferous.com with "Spice" in the name. I'm going to purchase a couple Spice apples from Draper Girls, photograph them, and hopefully pomiferous or Maple Valley can help me narrow the search. I don't really want to buy a whole tree from the mid-West only to find out in a couple years that the variety is not what I'm looking for.
