this is year three of two trees planted simultaneously 15 feet apart.
both had lots of petals this spring. one tree went on to develop great leaves and lots of cherries. the other started to shrivel after petal drop. the leaves seemed to dry out and become brown and curly. both trees were sprayed with dormant oil in late winter, but no other spray since. any thoughts???

Cherries get nailed by fungus and bacterial diseases in the Spring, especially if it's wet and cool. My Northstar got nailed. I cut off all the brown ugly stuff and now it looks ok. My Montmorency is tougher, it only got a little. I have some obscure Chinese ones too , and they all got nailed. Compost tea usually works.
My two cents.
