As the school year quickly approaches, the Salem-Keizer Education Foundation would like to announce that we are looking for 10-15 volunteers to assist in our 12 school gardens with watering, gardening, assisting in classes with youth, assisting in cooking classes with families, and event set-up/clean-up/registration. We work mainly with elementary and middle school students, but also advocate for large group/organizational volunteer work days and 1-time volunteers. Hours and dates are flexible. Our MOST urgent need for volunteers is for our upcoming and LARGEST AGRICULTURAL EVENT of the year: Urban AgFest 2015 on October 22nd and October 23rd, 2015! The hours for optional shifts are 9-2om, with volunteer positions assisting with our Cider Press or small group activities that revolve around gardening, farming, healthy eating, safety, nutrition, tasting tables, etc. We expect near 2,000 event participants over the two days.
