I want to propagate a particularly nice apricot I have and I'm not clear on how to choose a rootstock. If I start seed from the tree I plan to graft, will that produce a good rootstock?

I think the main questions to ask yourself are, does it make a size of tree that you like? Does it have problems, such as requiring extremely fast draining compared to other rootstocks or else it will get disease, does it anchor well in excess wind? does it sucker too much, etc. If you like what it gives you, it should be great.
