I grafted a little earlier than now last year and had way more success than ever grafting my persimmons. Since it has been cold and wet, I've waited a bit longer. What do you all think about grafting them as soon as this rain stops? It does seem noticeably warmer that in April.

I did mine last weekend. My scion wood was getting overdue, and I'm not going to be available for a couple of weeks, seemed like a good window.
I grafted bark grafted Matsumoto Wase onto my PCNA tree that was supposed to be Izu, and now has Izu grafted to it from last year. I also did a whip and tongue as a backup to a multi-grafted tree that had started out Fuyugaki, now has Nikita's Gift, Sheng, Izu, Giombo, Coffeecake, and hopefully this Matsumoto Wase. The picture is taken before I wrapped everything from the rubber to tip with buddy tape.
BTW, the Izu growth has a reddish tinge to it, very distinct from whatever, probably Jiro the original tree turned out to be. It also leafed out a little bit later.
