I am looking for information about peach trees suitable for Western Washington where leaf curl is a problem. I already have a Frost peach I planted in 2003 but I want to extend my harvest because peaches don't keep very long after being picked. I'm considering adding an Avalon Pride tree and a Charlotte tree. Anybody out there have success or failures with these two or do you have experience with other leaf curl resistant varieties you could suggest?
Veteran and Black Boy. Veteran is very vigorous and somewhat less susceptible to bacterial canker which is a disease much harder to control than leaf curl. Frost is not very vigorous and it suffers in the PNW. Black Boy is another good choice coming from New Zealand and it ripens late around September 20 in the Portland Area.

In relation to Frost, when do Veteran and Black Boy ripen?
Anybody out there have experience with Indian Free?
Black Boy ripens at least 30 days after Frost. In the Scholls area in Oregon about 550 ft above sea level Black Boy ripens September 20.

I have both Avalon Pride and Charlotte. I've had Frost in the past but it was very weak and fizzled out. Avalon Pride has grown very strongly for me and has born some fruits. It seems very healthy and at home here. I'm hoping for more fruit this year as I have switched to summer pruning. Time will tell. Charlotte has also grown well for me, actually more vigorously than Avalon Pride, more vigorously than I'd like, actually. It also has produced only small amounts of fruit, but I'm thinking lately that has to do with sever winter/spring pruning.
