I want to test the soil for my orchard trees (apple, pear, peach, plum, & cherry) again. I've used WI before for their food plot seeds & really like their soil analysis & recommendations. I've also used 2-3 other ones (for work) including our VA Tech cooperative extension but haven't been impressed w/ any of them. Is there a good company that specializes in soil analyses for orchards?

I used Logan Labs in Ohio. It covered everything I wanted and didn't cost much.  Not specific for orchards, though.

I used "SimplySoilTesting.com" a number of years ago.  Detailed report, specific to my needs.  I learned, among other things, my soil was very high in potassium, sufficient in phosphorous, very, very high in iron, very, very low in calcium, plenty of organic matter, a bit low in magnesium and copper.  Also very acidic.  By applying that information, I improved the growth of some trees and garden plants.  Among choices, I added lime, Epsom salts, and didn't worry when I used a copper spray.  They do not test for nitrogen, stating it is too transient and variable.

coolbrze,

For a detailed report highly specific to your particular soil(s), I'd recommend a Missouri company that has been around for several decades and which has customers across the U.S. as well as in various countries.  Their soil recommendations are not just based on what you currently have [--as regards your soil chemistry--], but also what your intended crops are.

The business is:  Kinsey Agricultural Services, Inc., in Charleston, MO.  Website is:

<www.kinseyag.com>

Their phone number is (573) 683-3880, and I have found them to be very helpful in answering questions.
