I've received several emails about the "Last Call" product for Codling Moths, and wondered what experience people have had with it.
I know that several people at HOS have seemed to like the idea, and the company has had a booth at some of our events before.
So, if anyone has heard about, or used it, please tell us about it. 
This will be my third season using LastCall. I've kept the same container in my refrigerator they whole time. I can't say that it works or not but I do know that I don't have many codling moths in my three mature, productive apple and one Bartlett pear trees. They don't seem to be a problem for me but I don't know if the LastCall is helping or not. I inherited these trees when I moved into this house so I don't know if there has ever been a big moth problem or not. I will stop using it when it runs out because it's frightfully expensive. Perhaps then I'll find out more.
Last Call is an effective alternative for Codling Moth control in home orchards. The sticky paste contains codling moth sex pheromone and a low rate of insecticide (permethrin).
Depending on tree size and pest pressure, the recommended rate is 20-50 drops per tree, with treatment on a monthly schedule. Droplets need to be placed in the upper canopy as well as in the lower half of the tree.
First application must be made around full bloom. Yes - this year that is probably by April 1. Subsequent applications to be made every 4 weeks.
If used according to directions, this product will reduce unchecked worm infestations (5-8 apples damaged in a lot of 10) to 0-2 damaged apples in the first season. Lower pest populations will be reduced to zero.

I didn't use any "Last Call" this year, and I have plenty of Coddling Moth, whereas previously I've had very few moths while using Last Call. Although I must say it might be because I had so many more apples this year as my apple trees are coming into heavy production. I will use the Last Call next year and if I see improvement I will then be totally convinced of its effectiveness. As of now I'm cautiously optimistic.
