Identifying established apples

We recently purchased an old farm. The previous owners told us that there were 10 varieties of apples in the apple orchard but neglected to leave a list of those varieties when they moved out. We have no way to contact them now and I'm not sure if I can identify them myself. I've tried but they all look the same to me. I would like to make cider and applesauce and store some for winter eating this year. Is there anyone out there that can help me identify these apples? Our farm is just outside of Oregon City, only 20 miles from Portland.

Thanks so much for any help!

Yes, the "identification" team in Portland is the best in the Northwest....maybe the West (for apples).....someone should tell you about one of the HOS Fall or Spring shows.....if they don't do so in the next day or so, I'll try to find out and post myself.

2011 All About Fruit Show
October 15 & 16, 2011 at the Clackamas County Fairground
The Home Orchard Society's All About Fruit Show is the Northwest's and possibly the world's largest exhibit of fall fruit varieties.

Bring a few samples of your "mystery" apples for our Apple ID team to identify.
