I have some pear scion wood and I was wondering if they will start like hard cuttings? I have started hard cuttings and they are doing well.

I have done this and it works, but we need to be careful about what we are getting. This is root stock. We need to know the full size of the tree, because this is the ultimate size of the tree. What we graft to it will have some effect, but in general this root stock will determine that. If you made cuttings of scion wood, you'd better find out what it is and how big it gets, because it may grow into a huge tree. Most pears do naturally, then you'll be hacking back a tree that wants to be huge.

Just to echo what John S said. a standard pear tree is 40 feet tall and 25 feet wide.
