Cool article, Dave.  I wonder what attributes it will have.  More vitamin C than Calville Blanc D'hiver? Resistant to diseases? Since these are largely French ancestral apples, I wonder how much information was lost in lack of translation.  Think about how many things we are just now discovering that the Indigenous nations knew and cultivated for thousands of years across these continents. Biochar for example.  It's so much harder to gain wisdom from people when you kill them.  I really don't know how much I'm going to like an apple until I grow it in my yard.  Topaz, Wickson crab and Gold Rush were just recommended names of apples until I discovered they were going to be my favorites.

Nice, thanks for the article quokka. The storyline puts into perspective for me particularly the personage/visage of John Bunker. His name among a few others of the pomologist sorts are invariable bantered about upon the happenstance of my infrequent forays out to the TOC.
