“JafarJ” --- There was a time we celebrated 100 posts, I’d like to celebrate yours! :D I’ve watched you edging up the count, and very much appreciate your help on the Forum. I think we’ve met … Parafilm and all … at the last AAFS..?

So welcome to the One Hundred Club!

Much of this Forum’s success is due to posters like you – so keep em coming my friend!

Thank you. I hadn't even noticed I was nearing 100. Hurray. At this pace I'll be passing Steven (site administrator) this year :)

Yep, I remembered you were interested in trying the parafilm so I brought a partial roll figuring you'd be at the show.

I want this forum to be as vibrant as possible because its potentially even more valuable than Gardenweb which I love. I'm grateful to you and Steven and the Society for making this available. I'm not doing anything here but indulging my interest in growing fruit.

I think it would be a great idea to put a plug in for this forum at the All About Fruit Show and the Scion Exchange. The younger crowd might be more computer friendly and it could be a way to rope in another generation.

…And I should be in bed

“I remembered you were interested in trying the parafilm so I brought a partial roll figuring you'd be at the show” --- Excellent, and thanks again! I’m coveting that roll … saving it for my potential budding this summer…

I thank Steven too; having finally met him (in person) at the same event!

“I think it would be a great idea to put a plug in for this forum at the All About Fruit Show and the Scion Exchange. The younger crowd might be more computer friendly and it could be a way to rope in another generation.” --- Excellent suggestion! At our last grafting classes the forum was brought up and I noticed a good percentage of participants faces lit up … as mine likely turned red…

Here’s an after midnight idea: what if we invited forum participants (like us) to sit for questions and an hour discussion about anything and (almost) everything at one of our events..? Just introduce ourselves with our ‘Forum handles’ and let the audience have at us! Something to ponder, but I agree this is likely the wave of the future -- especially considering the increased cost of travel – goodnight!

Congratulations JafarJ!

I really appreciate you contributions to the forum. I guess I'd better get posting if I want to stay ahead of you :D

Viron: I really like your idea of sort of a forum "meetup" at one of our big events. It could be as formal or as informal as we want to make it.

(FYI, I split these posts off from this thread)

Yeah, I like the idea of a meetup. I'm usually pretty reticent to approach people and chat them up out of the blue, so that sounds good to me.

I really appreciate all the valued help and information I recieve from here. I have many questions but I usually take time to figure out a way to ask them so that I don't sound like I'm totally unintelligent. My orchard is improving and the grafting is fun. I just wish spring would get here. I had 4 days below 25 last week and this Saturday its supposed to be 70. I think I will get out my hammock and hang around a few trees and talk to them. Ever notice how the more you look at your trees the more you notice that this branch needs pruned or tied into a better position. I wish I would have known 10 years ago some of what I have learned. My orchard would be much better off.
