I heard about this from the Idaho apple conference newsletter. If anyone wants to got to Yosemite this fall and learn about apples in national parks , this is you opportunity. No cost, but you do have to register. I worked at Yosemite 30 years ago and my wife and I went to a wine event about 15. Yosemite, is beautiful and uncrowded in the Fall.
About Apple Camp
It is little known that over 130 National Park units contain orchards that were planted over 50 years ago, many of which are on the National Register of Historic Places. Yosemite National Park, in particular, contains seven historic orchards dating from as far back as the 1860s—prior to its establishment as a park. Join orchard enthusiasts and apple experts for a weekend spent exploring Yosemite National Park’s historic orchards and learning about heritage orchard preservation. Talks, workshops, demonstrations, work parties, and tours will delve into the history of the orchards, the unique heirloom apple varieties, the complex issues of natural and cultural resource management in national parks, and the stewardship required to preserve historic trees.
