I have the answer! First, geo-locate your house in GoogleEarth. Then, you can import that satelite photo into Google SketchUp. Using Sketchup you can build a model of your and your neighbor's house if applicable. You can even place trees etc. This is the good part: You can then turn on shadow settings, and see how the sun will shine on your propery for any day of the year and any hour of the day. SketchUp knows" what the exact location is and can calculate exactly where the sun will be shineing at any time. As an example, I've just moved and was fretting about where to place my raised beds to get full sun. I have done that, found a place for tomatoes I never would of guessed and placed future fruit trees to see how that will work out. If this holds any interest for you I would be glad to share what little knowledge I have on how to do this. Respond here or e-mail me at holloway9024@msn.com.
