Where to buy European plums or gages?

Its getting close to that time of year and my plum harvest this year looks like it will be nil.

I always meant to find a U-pick or someplace where I can buy European plums that are ripe and sweet. Any suggestions? I've been mostly disappointed with the plums offered at the PSU farmer's market.

I live on the East side of Vancouver but am willing to drive up to 45 minutes, especially if there are some varieties I love or haven't yet tried.

Of particular interest are Yakima, Seneca and real Gages but I just generally like relatively ripe, firm, meaty, sugary, free stone plums that don't dribble watery juice down my chin.

There is a publication called the Tri-County Farm Fresh Produce Guide here in OR that lists numerous u-picks and fruit stands. Most librarys will have copies; or try http://www.TriCountyFarm. org

Kiyokawa Farms in Parkdale OR has some of the best prunes and plums we've come across and are usually under a $1. a pound. Dont have their phone # but am sure the're in the phone book or - online. Talk to Robin.

We close to Satus Pass WA and it's well worth the drive.

Thanks for the responses.

Sherwood will have Brooks and Italian Prune. Normally they ripen in August, so maybe the start of September?

I forgot about Kiyokawa. Its a bit of a drive, but I've emailed them with a request for a list of their cultivars.

Ayers Creek Farm has had various European plums at the Hillsdale Farmer's Market in the past.

Costco had 5lb cartons of Italian Prunes for a little over $1/lb and I nearly bought some but several of the cartons had bruised or moldy fruit. Most of them looked really nice but I don't want to commit to 5 lbs without a sample if I'm not sure about them.

I saw those too, Jafar, but they were not organic so I passed on them.

I have a green gage plum tree, two Damsons and an Italian Prune Plum, but they are apparently too young to fruit yet. I am especially excited about the Damsons as I want to make jam.
