For those of us who arent' farmers, water is expensive.
Many urge us to water the plants a lot before bud grafting, but how much?
Most of the time, I find that thoroughly one day before and 45 minutes before works.
I get that snap that I'm looking for and it opens easily.
Do you water after the budding?
I just started this year to see if it makes a difference. Whaddya think?

If I were to guess if after budding care is essential, then unstress your plants and help offset the investment in the 'plant slowdown' processes that toll the plant. So even though I had never thought of this before, but before and after -I do think watering in our summers will help the overall results quite a bit.
I never knew that the tight bark budding problem can be fixed in such a short a time as 45 minutes, so I appreciate knowing about that.
I guess capturing water during rainy periods would offset the water costs. In which case I am not sure you know that any low cost 12 volt fuel pumps of the modern high-pressure fuel injection types from post 1985 cars would work well with a 12 volt photo-cell apparatus, a 12 volt battery etc. They last well with water and can shoot 20 feet across.
