Last summer I asked questions about caring for our apple and plum trees, and received lots of great advice. Which leads me to this year's question: what are some good uses for apples? I think ours are Gravensteins, but I'm not sure. So far I've made a lot of applesauce, and I may try making some apple butter tomorrow -- unless anyone has better ideas.
I like to slice my extra apples and dehydrate them. I use my apple slicer/corer but leave the peels on. I spread the slices out on the dyhydrater plate and sprinkle them with sugar cinnamon before drying them. They make a good snack. Apples don't need to be prime condition either, you can cut blemishes off before slicing them. Don't be afraid to stack the dehydrator full either. The apples dry down a lot so a lot of apples will fit in a small space after dehydration.
