used metal halide bulbs

I have a coral reef tank and use metal halide lighting. From what I understand orchards and related growers use this lighting and do not specifically need the light spectrum a new bulbs generates. I am told orchards can use a six + month old bulb and continue to use them till they nearly burn out.

If this is true, these bulbs cost $80 or more and since I am only able to use them for the first few months I was wondering if there was a market for them. Could save the orchard growers some cash and provide me an outlet for them. I have many 250 watt mogul type sockets and some double ends but have friends with 175, 400 etc.

is this a viable option to anyone ? Thanks in advance.
