In the article I wrote for the Pome News, In Praise of the Tripod Orchard Ladder," http://www.homeorchardsociety.org/article/36/ I suggested contacting "Teufel's Nursery" to locate one. Our Webmaster just forwarded me an e-mail asking for additional information on Teufel's Nursery. I called both their (old) 'Retail' phone number, and their (Feb. 2005) "Wholesale Only" number. Both numbers brought me: "This number has been disconnected and is no longer in service..." message. And, there appears to be no Internet link to the nursery either.
Is Teufel's Nursery out of business? They've been my favorite place to browse for years. They've carried an excellent line of professional grafting knives, pruning equipment, plant labels and assorted goodies.... I know they've bounced between Retail & Wholesale, but as I've generally walked into their location (off the Sunset Freeway), they'd never turn me away ~
Anyway ... I suspect some might wonder where they can find a 'retail' outlet for the Tallman Ladders mentioned in my article. I searched them online too, and found the following link: http://www.tallmanladders.com/tripod.html I then E-mailed Tallman, requesting a 'local' outlet where a person may purchase one of their tripod orchard ladders. I'll post their response when I receive it, but until then, does anyone have the lowdown on Teufel's? I'd hate to 'show up' at an empty building

Hi Ed, Steven forwarded your question to me, as I'd written the article on the Orchard Ladders. I just finished posting a 'question' on the Forum, asking about the same thing you did. I, too, tried to search for Teufel's, and got the same results. Shortly after my post, an answer came in - with a link to Teufel's!
I responded to the post, then searched the Teufel site. Here's where you'll want to go:

My ladder's an 8 footer, and I notice the price has about doubled ... in 15 years; but I also contacted the Tallman Ladder Co. in Hood River - I'll post their response on the Forum.
