The topic of the week for my email subscription of various plant topics had about the usual 25 current publications. This week in the section "News and Views" (j) lists how plants/trees react and feel during overhead watering or outside rain and (b) how bacteria that prey on plants in the dry summer and what they do to attract water in order to survive the summer.

So I think the link with these new front breaking issues will give a different insight to the few of us gardeners living in bacterial gummosis (Seattle-Portland) country.

There is a lot of interesting research going on in the world of water.  Gerald Pollock of the University of Washington has written extensively on a topic that I barely understand: the fourth dimension of water.  Apparently there are some weird effects that happen with water in beteween the other states (ice, vapor, water).
