The young female kiwi snaked across the horizontal pipe for a couple of feet. Then the last two or three inches drooped. Then they perked up. Then they drooped. Now those last two inches hang shriveled. Why? Cutting it off is easy enough, but what does this death at the extremities signify?

This sounds like a mystery novel, and it is a mystery. Several years ago at another house, my first kiwis had diseases. I think they were bacterial in nature, because my bacterial compost tea killed all of the diseases. They haven't had any diseases since.
