Are any of you using tanglefoot or making something similar? I went to Freds today and they didn't have tanglefoot.  I thought, "How hard would it be to make some of this stuff?  Well, apparently harder than I thought.  This guy makes some that looks good, but you have to buy pine resin.  I have some castor oil because it heals knee pain.

I was kind of intrigued by someone mentioning black strap molasses. I have some of that for my oatmeal. Has anyone tried this?

Thanks,

I use it occasionally to keep ants off my fig trees and out of my mason bee tubes.  I've used it on apple trees also but I'm not sure if it helps there.  I worry birds will get stuck to it, but that hasn't happened yet.

I have excluded ants from getting to flowers in some of my fruit crosses but it wasn't any sticky recipe. I wrapped sticky tape upside down for that. If I remember correctly I think I have some areas in my yard that ants are not a concern. For those I use a tiny silicone clamp that I place on each pistil to exclude bees. The bees avoid that but ants don't.

I want to put it on fake apples in the tree so codling moth and apple maggot can get stuck to it.
