Thanks again for your input concerning bloom periods. We are in the depths of winter here in Kansas and anticipating spring. I've got 26 trees on order mostly on B.9 but a few on M.9 and G.16. I've been investigating various support systems including slender spindle and 4 wire trellis. Our site is a north facing slope with great wind break to the South. The trees will be planted on a North-South axis. Could I get some comments on the systems you use, pros and cons, what you've learned and what to look out for? Should I plant all 26 trees in one long system or break them up into 2 or 3 rows? Thank you, Michael.

I use a stout 6 or 8 foot metal fence post (T-post).
If you use wires, you won't be able to mow all directions very easily, unless you do it all with a weed whipper. Mine are all tractor mowed, so keeping wires to a minimum is important. T-posts seem to fill the bill.
I would think pollination would be a little better if they were planted in a block rather than in a straight line. I bet opinions will vary on that, though.
Don't they recommend corn be planted in blocks?

Plumfun thank you for your reply, I was hoping go get some more comments on what systems other people use. After more research I'm leaning to an 4 wire oblique palmette trellis system. I'll be planting the trees a block of 3 strings about 100 feet long, 12 feet apart. I've got the time the system will require to train the trees. I think I have the knowledge to train and prune. It should be easy to spray as the trees are in a plane and I think it just looks good. I'll post some pictures late spring once the trees are in the ground. Michael
