I’ve had a Peach Plum in the ground for well over a decade and am very disappointed with its “shy bearing.†I’ve grafted on so many potential pollinators - I’ve lost track! And most years – they’re the only limbs on the tree to produce fruit
This tree was suggested to me by a now deceased friend, likely more concerned with its heritage as a long-time local variety than its productivity, or lack of. Frankly, I’d graft it over to whatever European prune/s you may like, or remove it altogether. When it does fruit, the plums are soft, don’t keep, drop easy and attract wasps.
As a long-time member and contributor to this site, I wouldn’t discourage anyone without cause. If it were me, I’d either graft every limb but one to a Euro variety (this Spring), or replace it with a Euro and graft one limb of ‘Peach plum’ to that tree. If it’s consistent fruit you want, the Peach plum is unlikely to satisfy.
