We live in Moab, Utah (Grand County). We first tried footies 3-4 years ago and found that they were small enough to fit on my (female) index finger nicely. The next year we bought 3 more packages of them, but they were larger (maybe twice as big around, approximately an inch wide if you lay them flat on a surface) and would not stay on our apples. The apples were probably a bit bigger than a marble. If we waited til the apples were bigger, then it would be too late to prevent coddling moth. Now that you have the coating for the footies, we would like to try them again, but are wondering if they are still the bigger ones. It's getting a bit late this season--we're needing to spray now, but if we could get some small footies, maybe we could spray one time and then apply the coated footies. Or... if you would be able to sell the packet of Surround by itself, maybe we could soak our big footies in it and apply them after another spraying or so when the apples are bigger?

If you live in Utah, you do not have the apple maggot fly to worry about....this is possibly the main pest the footies are used for and since the fly is a big pest in the Portland area the foot sox are popular in the Portland area......
rather, in Utah, you have the codling moth problem, as you mentioned.
I have a grower friend with a farm in Santaquin, Utah who uses pheromone lures for his codling moth problem.....and, knowing a little about Moab, I rather suspect the codling moth pressure is also sufficiently low there in that desert environment that it may be worth it for you to investigate this idea of getting pheromone mating disruptors....just an idea to think about for some time in the future maybe.....it is probably way too expensive an idea right now.....so let's get back to the question you asked.
If you do not get a response or are not able to purchase the Surround or smaller footies I may have some other sources to suggest for you.
