I tried to graft some of the scions from the exchange. My thought was, "drying up-better graft quickly". They were like dry sticks. I thought I'd throw them away. Then I remembered with all the wonderful rain we've been having, the wheelbarrow was full. I just threw them in the water overnight.
The next day/s , they weren't shriveled anymore. They looked like new scions. I grafted with one, and it was much more sinewy. I think I made a good graft. I won't know for a few weeks, but I thought I'd just pass this possibility on. Try it!

I have had scions that had dried and were somewhat shriveled, I was told by a person at a local nursery to soak them in water to rehydrate them, much as you did. I had a good take so it does work. My scion wood, although dried did have green under the bark and was kept in the refrigerator. I recieved some budwood from California that was actually brown, I gave it to a nurseryman and low and behold of the ten buds, he did get three takes,so don't be to quick to discard precious scion wood.
