All right, I did something stupid. " title="Embarassed" /> I was storing some scion wood in my apple cooler along with apples thinking they were sealed in plastic ziplocs and would be fine, but it turns out that plastic is permeable to ethylene gas. Of course i pulled it out right away and vented it and stored it in a separate dedicated cooler. I've never had issues from storing scion wood zipped tight in ziplocs, right alongside fruit and veggies, perhaps because rumor has it the ziplocs are supposed to be ethylene tight, but I don't have a lot of confidence in that. It just doesn't sound like a good idea to store any scion wood anywhere near any fruits or veggies, let alone a cooler filled with apples.
For those who don't know, ethylene is supposed to be harmful to scion wood and can cause buds to abort.
Question for those who know a bit on the subject: how can I tell if the scion wood is ok or not? All the buds look fine.
