RED DELICIOUS - REFLUX

Hi All,
A question from accross the pond. Wife was advised these apples would help with her keep[ng her reflux under control. Hard to believe but it seems to work. Any of you experts out there know why? Wondering whether it has got anything to do with low sugar content.
Next problem there seems to be a supply problem in Blighty (England) only one supermarket chain sells them and only occasionally. So tried to buy the trees a Gillette moment, Sadly no one produces this variety here. Anyone know who might export them.

Hi Dave;

Red Delicious has a low acid content, which lets the high sugar content shine through. If you have a chance to buy the older strain called "Hawkeye", "Old Fashioned Delicious" or just "Delicioius", get that one; way less colour, much better flavor.
