hi
i have two plum trees and they need to be pruned when is the best time to do this i live in portland oregon

Hi back :) If they’re Asian (or ‘Japanese’) plums …any time in the next couple of weeks, and if it looks to be dry for a few days afterward, all the better.

If they’re European (prune) plums, anytime in the next month, though sooner would be better.

I would stress to prune it when it is not raining, preferably for one day before and after. I got fungal disease into my plum tree by pruning in the rain and I never got rid of it. I know it's hard this time of year to find a solid block of dry weather, but better to leave it unpruned than to fill it with disease.
