Hi...I would like to have some lime and/or lemon trees in my garden. What options do I have for my area? Am I limited to plants I can bring in for the winter or is there a plant hearty enough for the climate here? Thanks!

There are plants hardy enough to leave out. There are also citrus that you would probably like to eat. Getting them in the same plant will be difficult. I'm trying that now. Poncirus Trifoliata is definitely hardy enough and bad tasting. So is Ichang lemon. Limes and lemons arent' hardy enough. Most people buy theirs grafted onto flying dragon rootstock, which makes for a small plant that you can leave in a container and bring in. For how long you have to bring it in depends on the type.

I have resigned myself to the indoor citrus. I will replace my annoying potted palm that has always been half dead with a Persian Lime. It will be a nice addition inside during fall and winter.
