I'm putting out a call for anybody in the Portland area who has a named cultivar of Pineapple Guava (Feijoa), or even a seedling that has desirable qualities.
I have a few Fejoas planted at home that were all grown from seed. I'm hoping to convert them to varieties that are known to produce good fruit but I don't know where to find budwood short of buying a whole plant from One Green World or mail order just to get a few inches of wood off of it.
I only know one person in the Portland area with a producing tree with fruit he enjoys.
Any volunteers? Any suggestions of where to look?
Thanks,
Jafar
We have 3 varieties of pineapple guava. Two are seedlings and two are Coolidge. They all taste great. Different times and slightly different flavors. Have you tried the fruit yet, jafarj? We feel fortunate because our season is longer because some fruit in November and others in December. I don't want to graft other varieties on my seedlings.
Just an idea.

John, I haven't tried the fruit from mine yet since this is the first year that I've even had a flower and it is only one.
I have tried fruit from other trees and they ranged between being OK to eat to really good.
When I graft on other varieties to my seedlings I still plan to let some of the seedling grow and produce also.
Why don't you want to graft other varieties onto your seedlings?
