With high temperatures in the 80's, I think that I'm going to start grafting my persimmons later this week.  It has been more successful for me when we've got consistently warm temperatures, much later in the year, than for apples, pears, cherries, etc.

John that's interesting that persimmons graft better when they are active and not dormant. That is not true of most fruit trees I hear. Is warm weather better for grafting anything else?

Pawpaws also tend to take better in warmer weather.  I've heard that walnuts are hard but I'm not sure that's why.

Thanks John. We have a big walnut tree on the property and the squirrels hide nuts and have created many seedlings. I don't need to graft a walnut, I might need to give away some saplings eventually.
