I grow marshall strawberries. The past few years I have been sending them all over the country for just the cost of postage. FINALLY... this year Raintree and a nursery back east are selling them so I won't be sending (except to folks that were on my waiting list from last year) as I don't want to compete...I want it to be worth their while to grow this rare... tasty berry.
So I have maybe 30 or so babies that I could pot up and bring to the plant sale if there is any interest in them.
If you do a quick search on the internet, you will see they are a very tasty, historical berry grown extensively in the NW until a virus all but wiped them out. A lady back east has been selling them for $30 each (which is why I started sending them for free). The Bainbridge Historical society used to have a small plot but stopped a few years back. There is a lady on Vashon Island who sells them for $5 each but she doesn't ship.
So.... any interest?? Don't want to pot them up if no one is interested.
NW Lady, thank you for taking the time to pot up and bring the Marshal's to the plant sale. I'm sure you have made a few households very happy. The plant sale overall looked to me to be pretty successful.
Although I came late to the sale, as I am want to do, and missed out this year, I think that maybe next year there may be more offerings and I may be able to get a few starts. I remember the Marshall's and recently discovered an intact sealed, 1oz jar of "Marshall Strawberry Jam", Smuckers I suppose, clearing out a house built by my folks in '69.
Yep, I ate it....good too!

Hi, I just saw this, a year too late! I live in Vancouver, well in Hazel Dell, and I have no car to get up to where Raintree Nursery is or I would for one strawberry plant. I just have a small yard and would love one of these to try. Anybody here have one? I got iris I can swap if wanted?
