This is an interesting new site that was highlighted by the Oregonian.

Parts to zero in on are food preservation and growing dwarf fruit trees in pots on patio / balcony. There are some youtube videos and they speak of starting figs from cuttings. However, they also say that almost any tree can be propagated like a willow in water (possibly not!)
plumfun, the folks from Preserve talked about this -- I think it was at last October's All About Fruit show. Check out their recipe linked at [url:1em1v16x]http://www.portlandpreserve.com/he-howto.html[/url:1em1v16x] -- it's number 4, and makes a liquid pectin. There's also a recipe in Christine Ferber's book Mes Confitures for green apple jelly, which can then be added to batches of low-pectin fruit to make jams and jellies. I used the green apple recipe last year to make hot pepper jelly.
I'm frustrated -- wanted to try one or both of these this summer, but my biennial-bearing apple is taking it easy this year.
