Hey all
I am a novice orchardists, and I want to take the next step this year to producing better fruit. I have never sprayed, and have no clue what, when, or how to.
Is there some type of guide out there that I can find this information? And where do you find the special sprays?
Thanks for the help
Craig

This is a complicated topic and I'm sure someone will weigh in with advice. You probably need to decide whether you want to go organic, semi organic or use the entire chemical arsenal. My advice is to research disease resistance first and switch varieties that require little or no spray. For example, I love my liberty apple - it's never been sprayed with anything ever, and I've enjoyed great crops for 25 years. My insect issues are minor and I can live with them. I just clean up the drops and use molasses traps. But maybe I'm just lucky.

I agree with Jim. I spray with compost tea, which is completely organic. There are a wide variety of different ways of spraying. People have strong opinions about these topics and they can sometimes become upset when others disagree. This is a site about orchards, so I think we should be able to talk about it, but in a careful, respectful way.
