Hello Apple Enthusiasts,
I am looking for a cider variety named "Late Gold", a cross between Yarlington Mill and Medaille d'Or from the late Alan Rowe of Suffolk, England. I have not been able to locate any U.S. sources for this apple, so if anyone has the variety or knows someone who does, I would love to hear from you.
Thanks,
Kanin
Sorry to see no replies yet. I looked on the net, which you probably did too, and didn't find anything. I can only dream of having enough apples to make cider. Maybe in 5 or 10 years?
I have the variety "Redfield", just a 1 year graft and not highly vigorous - only about a foot of growth. According to a few websites, makes an interesting varietal cider. "The Redfield’s deep red skin and brilliant scarlet flesh make a beautiful cider. It is unusually tannic, with bright fruit, and balanced acid. The taste seems to reflect the color; a striking red. A lovely summer drink lightly chilled." I know that's not what you were looking for, but good luck in your searches.
