Just planted Arkansas Black apple tree...about 2 1/2 Ft tall

Leaders been cut off but has two small side branches...have bent one up and fasted to a bamboo...so the tree would not ever be a straight trunk. Can this grow up to be a productive tree? Pat Lundsteen

Not sure what you mean by “leaders” …do you mean its terminal bud? And without knowing the extent of the bend, as the trunks thicken over time minor curves seem to disappear.

The only way (I can think of) to avoid that bend is to cut off all its limbs and allow a bud to send a new stem off the trunk, either trained straight up or eventually tied in that direction…
