Interview a fruit expert for my Portland Tribune column?

Hi,
I'm the garden columnist for the Portland Tribune and would love to interview someone knowledgeable about good fruit trees for beginning gardeners—someone who can answer some of my questions in everyday language to encourage new gardeners to grow fruit. Questions like 'What's are some disease free apple trees?' or 'What is a good pollinator?' Or 'What kind of conditions are best for growing pear trees?' or 'What are some good dwarf trees for back yards in the city'?

I can interview by phone or by e-mail. I think a lot of gardeners are more interested lately in growing fruit and I'd love to get some expert information to inspire them.

Thanks very much.

Barbara interviewed me for the article and it's in today's Tribune. Most of what I said will not be news to people on this forum or in the society. However, I did mention the society a few times and we may get some people to find out how to grow fruit. She did a very thorough interview and she wrote exactly what I said. A first?

John,
You just made my day! I saved a copy to send you, but it looks like you already have one. Glad to promote the HOS.

I would love to write more about the HOS for other publications, possibly Edible Portland. Who would be some good people to interview please?

Thanks in advance.

Any of the regular posters on here. Viron first, he runs the ship. He taught me how to cleft graft. I guess they have to be willing. Plumfun, I dare ya. Nick Routledge writes really interesting things about preserving plants and cutting edge experiments. Boizeau has been very active recently. I think he lives in the Puget Sound area. tstoehr-did I spell it right? Lon Rombough wrote a book on grapes. jafarj gkowen is other moderator. Steven is the administrator. As long as you're not too shy, jump right in, or email Barbara privately.

John,

Is there a link to that article? I looked for it back then but was not able to find it.

I couldn't find a link for it. She did a great job, accurately writing what I said, but more importantly, portraying what we do in an informative and easy to understand manner. If I can remember, I'll try to bring it and show it to you at the scion exchange.
Thanks
