Hi!
I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about the history of orchards around the world. I'm doing a Heritage management plan of an Orchard as part of my training in archaeology, and I'm having trouble researching a good source of information. Any australian information would be good!
Thanks heaps!
My favorite quote about orchards is from M. Publius Cato, a Roman philosopher who wrote about grafting as an already ancient art, having apparently originated in Mesopotamia. Ted or someone printed it in one of the Pome News issues a couple of years back. The famous Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the ancient wonders of the world, is probably one of the most ancient in history. Pome News issues are a good start to research.
