I care for a small orchard (6 apple, 2 pear) and need help. I just finished pruning them and all the prunings from last year and now this year and on the ground under the orchard. Can anyone recommend a good (insured!) service for hauling it all away? Alternately, is it legal to burn it? the orchard is on a large lot in residential SW Portland.
Last year the apples were pretty bad. Lots of blemishes and many worms. Is there a good book or website that I could learn how to manage this. Prefer an organic approach if possible. Don't want to use poisons, but at the same time don't want to spend HOURS pruning an end up with a crappy harvest.
HELP!
thanks,
carlos
