That sounds like a typo! I've grown quince on quince and pear on quince. I think hawthorn on quince or even medlar on quince, heck, loquat on quince might be ok, but they are pome fruits.
I can't see how plum on quince could work. It would shock me. Then again, I was surprised to read that pear grew on photinia. It was hard to believe until I tried it and it worked.

I talked to the horticulturist at Raintree concerning Quince root stock on plum trees. She said they didn't do it because they were concerned how long the tree would live. I took a chance and bought a yellow egg plum (Millers Nursery). I'll have some scions put on a semi dwarfing root stalk. Pat Lundsteen

John, but have you put quince on pear …on quince " title="Wink" /> You’ve made some amazing combinations, I get lost just trying to follow them, but as described by the Raintree employee; graft incompatibility needs to be discussed.
I’ve had all kinds of disappointments in my years of growing fruit trees, but to purchase a connection, or graft one myself, that would fail before me… that would be ruff " title="Crying or Very sad" />
Glad to see you made that call, Pat, and good question.

Plumfan is the king of humorous grafting. He has a frankenstein tree with many combinations like you said. I would love to see that tree sometime to see what he's done with it. I also don't have quite the precision or success rate that he has on his grafts, but it's nice to have something to aspire to.
