Hi all;
I am a new member. I live most of the year in Costa Rica. I have a grafting question. There is a fruit tree here called a Momoonchina most likely spelled that wrong! I want to grow some from seed and then graft it with a known producing tree. I have been told that the male tree does not produce fruit so waiting 5 years to see is not what I want. I see many trees producing without another one around so the male seems to not be a necessity. Here is my problem. Trees for the most part here do not go thru a dormant stage. Is there a grafting type that works best on nondormant trees? I have never grafted before but have been reading LOTS about different ways to do it.

Bill, using the new growth extension at the end of the limb. I'd look for fairly vigorous growth. There will be dormant buds at the leaf stem attachment sites. Usual practice is to snip most of the leaf off the leaf stems, to slow the transpiration of the buds/ bud stick, leaving the stem on also helps to handle placement of the bud chip.

Now all I need to do is get some seeds to grow! I am not sure if they are picky or not. I have read about soo many seeds that need
things to happen to them in order for them to germinate. I will keep the forum updated.
