Fruit tree grafting services - Oregon (USA), Benton Co. or nearby?

Hello,

My siblings and I own property in rural Benton County, Oregon (USA), northwest of the city of Eugene (in Lane County).

Because none of us live there year-round, we are interested in hiring someone to graft and grow for planting several fruit trees on our property (mostly apple, plus some pear and cherry), as the orchards on our land are quite old and some trees are dying and/or have broken and fallen, etc.

If anyone has listings of local fruit tree grafting individuals or service companies (in Oregon, perhaps esp. near Benton County; although farther away could be okay, if needed), please post that information here, or provide URLs to specific websites, organizations, etc.

Thanks and best,

Scott

It's possible that some of the folks working at Queener Farms (google) near Stayton, would have the skills you are wanting. Depending on if you are wanting top work (@ your place); or bench grafting (anyplace), they may be willing to accommodate; especially bench grafting if its some of their varieties (lots) you're looking for. They are busy reclaiming the heritage orchard so may not be traveling freely.

If it's possible you have some apple unknown or perhaps unique in your collection, the I.D. Team at the HOS All About Fruit Show in mid-October in Canby OR, is highly regarded. Collect 6-8 ripe examples of a given variety, unpolished, from different areas of the tree (in, out, up, down, light, shade) stems on; bag and refrigerate until the event. Bring them in with your information so they can get back to you if they don't figure an I.D. immediately. I.D. Team may be in Eugene for another event a week or two later.

There is a Mother Earth News fair in the valley nearby this summer. I would check that out.

James IS one of the usuals..........

Another one to check would be Andrew Millison, who I believe lives in Corvallis, is a professor of permaculture/sustainability at OSU, and a prominent Permaculture designer. He would probably know a local tree/fruit person. He works with the highly prominent Marisha Auerbach, who may or may not be a fan of the Black Keys.
