After my previous post 9/30/2010), I received an email suggestion that I snip off the leaves and fruit from the cutting, divide into 3 pieces and use the damp paper towel/ bag technique for propagating the fig cuttings. After 2 weeks I am already seeing roots starting from the sides of the cuttings. Will the roots continue to grow in the bag indoors from the winter through the Spring or does the cutting go dormant; I live in New York City and it is now September.

If what you are seeing are actual roots, then you should tenderly transfer this cutting to some loose potting soil. Keep well lit, adequately watered and nute'd, and on the warm side the whole winter, set it out into either a large pot or the ground next spring after all danger of frost is gone.
Maintain humidity around the top portion of the cutting for another few weeks, but do try to wean it back to regular room conditions. If it starts moulding anywhere, spray with some 10 or 20% Listerine and water solution.
