I have read in several books and on-line that there is a plum rootstock
(name: "pixy") that is a dwarfing rootstock for plums. It seems to be
currently available in Great Britain. Is this something that anyone has seen available in the US? I would dearly love to have dwarf size plum
trees 6 - 8 ft, my yard is small for the larger size ones.

Pixie rootstock 'used' to be sold in the states in the early 90's, and for some reason is not anymore. I think it wasn't really the one-stop-miracle-stock that it had been touted as being.
I find the Krymsk #1 from raintree nursery to be quite dwarfing to plums. Of course, heavy fruit loads work their own magic in diverting the suns energy from twig to fruit as well!
