My son purchased a potted cherry this spring and it's not done well. All branches except one are dead, so back it goes for a refund.
What I am worried about is a round gummy spot on one of the branches that died. I don't have any reason to think it is not an injury, but just in case it is some sort of canker, is it safe to plant a new tree in the space that this tree is vacating?
