Cut your scions now (January)

Scions cut now will last longer than scions cut in early March, when the tree has started its push to grow. They are truly dormant right now, but with all this warm sun (in January?) it won't be long until the tree wants to wake up. It's also a good time to prune stone fruit trees, ceanothus, quince and other plants that can get attacked by pruning in the rain.

Just finished pruning my 'Miss Jessamine' tree. I cut off a huge piece so I'll be bringing lots of scions to the exchange.

…and just procured some ‘Jiro’ Persimmon wood … at least it’ll be anthrax and crown gall free :roll: …hope we’ll have some persimmon rootstock :P
