Hi guys, I have an orchard in England and I'd like to trial Rainier, unfortunately I can't seem to track down any suppliers of trees or graftwood in the UK, any ideas of a supplier that might ship to me?

Thanks

You should try Sylvia, a cherry variety bred in Europe that is resistant to bacterial canker.

Sylvia was actually bred in Canada, but available in Europe.

HI, thanks for the replies. Sylvia's dark red isn't it? I'm specifically looking for white cherries, any recommendations?

I can ship you Rainier scionwood that is virus certified and a phytosanitary certificate. You would have to provide all the documentation from your side.

Royal Ann is another and it is virus certified. I have Altenburger Melonenkirsche which is very resistant to bacterial canker (Pseudomonas syringae) but I don't have virus certification for that. I also have Vinka which is definitely the best as far as Pseudomonas. I have 4 trees that I imported and they are very healthy. I will be offering them in two years.

Take a look at this site. Also the same results were put out by another institution. Look for the susceptibility of sweet cherries to Pseudomonas syringae. I am probably the only one who has Vinka and Altenburger Melonenkirsche in the U.S.

Thanks Marc, I can't find any UK/French reference to Vinka, any idea where it originates?

Vinka comes from one of the Baltic states (Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia) and Vinka is a red-colored cherry.

I have some trees, but maybe you should try to see what are the importation restrictions on Prunus from the U.S. to U.K. and I can send you trees.

If you want to take this off-line, please write to info@fruit-tree.com.
